Daesan Creative Writing Funds

HISTORY

2014
Daesan Creative Writing Funds are given to develop creative literature and expand the base of Korean literature through the discovery and cultivation of talented new literary figures. Support is given to writers in five categories: poetry, novels, dramas, literary criticism and children's literature. Recipients are selected from a public bid of works by writers who have been writing for less than 10 years. In 2014, a total of 398 works were submitted to be judged by a panel of veteran literary figures. Some nine writers, including ¡ºUnknown Face¡»'s Kim Hae-jun, were selected in five categories. Each writer received KRW 10 million in support for a total of KRW 90 million, with all rights, including publication rights, granted to the writers. Selected works are published and released within a year using the support funds. The certification ceremony was held in the convention hall on the 23 floor of the Kyobo Building on Aug. 26. Of the previous recipients, seven – one book of poetry, two novels, one book of literary criticism, two books of children's poetry and one children's book – were published in 2014.
