The Daesan Foudation set up the Awards in 2002, in commemoration of its 10th anniversary. In 2003, the Foundation established the Awards as a regular project with the support of Kyobo Life Insurance Company. The Awards aim at injecting fresh vitality into 21st century Korean literature.

Total Award :
The prize in each category is worth 30 million won, and the total prize money of 150 Million won makes this the largest set of literary prizes at present given in Korea.

The award-winning works will be translated into various languages, published by reputed publishers in the appropriate countries, and made widely known abroad.

Selection :
 Co-managed by Changbi Publishers Inc., the Awards committee invited college students to submit their manuscripts of poetry, novel, dram, scenario) and criticism.

 From the 1,111 students who applied, the Foundation selected 4 winners each of whom received 5 million won along with a gift of gloval literary tour for two weeks.

The 5th (2006)

In order to stimulate the dynamism of literary activities in the university and bring to light new writers of talent, this activity is jointly sponsored with the Changbi Publishing Company. Works written by students in universities in Korea or abroad were collected in each of 6 categories : poetry, fiction, drama, scenario, critical writing and writing for children, yielding a total of 470 writers in poetry, 309 in fiction, 65 in drama, 45 in scenario, 13 in critical writing, and 51 in children's literature, a total of 953 students. Committees screened the works in each category and selected one award-winner in each, except in children's literature where no award was made. Winners received 5million Won and the possibility of making a literary tour overseas. The awards ceremony was held on January 10, 2007 in the 10th floor Auditorium of Kyobo Building, while the literary tour took place between January 31 and February 14, 2007, visiting Britain, France, Bulgaria, Germany etc.

The 4th (2005)

Out of the 928 students who applied, the Foundation selected 5 winners, each of whom 5 million won along with the gift of a two-week European literary tour to England, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Czech, and so on. The awards ceremony was held at the Kyobo Life Insurance Building on January 13th, 2006. Winners' works were published in the spring issue of The Quarterly Changbi [Creation and Criticism].
