These grants are destined to encourage the development of Korean studies overseas by organizing or by individuals, encouraging the study of all aspects of Korean literature in particular, thus making Korean culture better known throughout the world.

Selection:
Applications are received from the research institutions and individuals involved in Korean studies abroad; applications will be screened for approval by a specially constituted committee. Priority is given to non-Korean involved in the propagation of Korean literature and the promotion of Korean studies overseas.

The 13th (2006)

These grants are designed to support institutions or individuals in foreign countries involved in the study of some aspect of Korean literature, in order to stimulate the study of Korean literature overseas, to encourage a wider knowledge of and interest in Korean culture and literature across the world. Grants are given for the study, the translation and publication of books about Korean literature, to provide support for academic conferences on Korean literature, to provide scholarships for students majoring in Korean literature, and for the acquisition of works of Korean literature. In 2006, 34 applications for support were received, and priority was given to projects designed to promote Korean literature and make it better known abroad, as a result of which 6 translation&publication projects, 2 publication projects, 3 study&publication projects, 1 study project and 1 book-purchase were approved, a total of 13 projects.
